Al Baqrah Page 14

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
God Almighty said:
And when there came to them a Book from God, confirming what was with them - although before that they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved - but when there came to them what they recognized, they disbelieved in it. Soو the curse of God is upon the disbelievers. (89)
And when Muhammad, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, came to them with the Qur'an, which agreed with what they had of the Torah, a group of them cast aside the Book of God and put it behind their backs, like the ignorant who do not know its truth.
A Look at the Holy Verse
This happened during the time of the Prophet PBUH and it happens in our daily lives. You will find people admiring someone for his good character, handsome appearance, and sound character. Then, when that person is promoted to a certain position, these same people begin to slander and insult him, claiming he doesn't deserve it. Are they the same people? Yes, and is he the same person? Yes. But people are hardened toward one another out of hatred for those who are superior to them in any way.
God Almighty said:
How evil is that for which they have exchanged their souls: that they should disbelieve in what God has revealed, out of envy that God should send down of His bounty upon whomever He wills of His servants. So, they incurred wrath upon wrath, and for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment. (90)
How evil is what the Children of Israel chose for themselves! When they replaced disbelief with faith out of injustice and envy for God's sending down of His grace, the Qur'an, upon the Prophet of God and His Messenger, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), they returned with God's wrath upon them for their denial of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), after His wrath upon them for their distortion of the Torah. For those who deny the prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), there is a punishment that humiliates and disgraces them.
A look of the Noble Verse
It is said that someone has bought his brain: a common proverb meaning that he is satisfied with what he has in his brain and does not want anything more. These Jews were satisfied with what they had of the Torah and did not want to hear about the religion of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), even though they knew for certain that the new religion abrogates what came before it. This is nothing more than transgression: an exaggeration of the meaning of God's grace bestowed upon others, (upon whomever He wills of His servants).
There is a will, there is a choice at some point. Your interference in the matter does not change any of the choices of Allah Almighty, but rather only makes you appear envious and spiteful. Their fate was excessive wrath from Allah Almighty. Why? Imagine that you are a leader in a vital private sector, and you chose an ambitious young man who is not from the elite due to his success and dedication to his work, and everyone attacks you in this decision. Will you allow them to achieve their goals or will you implement your decision? It is a matter of firmness, and Allah is the highest example. Not only that, but they will receive a humiliating punishment. When you browse the Quran, you will find Allah’s punishment of different types: Here is the type of punishment (humiliating). Why? Because you originally wanted to oppose Allah’s wisdom. It is as if you are saying: (I seek Allah’s forgiveness). You are not choosing well, O Lord. I am the one who deserves this, and the one you chose does not deserve it. And here you are receiving the opposite of what you intended. You are full of arrogance, so, Allah Almighty wanted to humiliate you.
Read about the idea of entitlement
New research shows three ways emotional bullies can manipulate you.
Emotional Entitlement vs. Feeling Entitled
Entitlement can have adaptive qualities when it leads to the expectation of being treated with respect. The pathological variety of entitlement extends to the relative who believes that once they are present, they don't need to do anything else. However, entitlement can take an emotional turn. It is, in their words, "the degree to which people believe they have a right to experience various emotions."
The Emotional Right to Positive Emotions (EEP)
Everyone has the right to feel happy.
I deserve to feel emotions that make me happy.
I deserve to feel loved.
When things are going well, I deserve to be happy.
I deserve to enjoy life.
The Emotional Right to Negative Emotions (EEN)
Even if nothing bad is happening, everyone has the right to feel depressed.
When something bad happens to me, I have the right to feel sad.
I have the right to feel frustrated when things don't go my way.
I have the right to feel hopeless and sad sometimes.
I have the right to feel bad.
Emotional Independence (EEU)
I find it difficult to forgive those who don't feel happy for me when I'm happy.
I find it difficult to forgive those who don't support me during difficult times.
I feel resentful toward those who didn't support me when I was feeling bad for a long time. I can't forget how unfair I felt when others didn't share my joy.
I feel that it's unfair for people not to share my joy.
The Witness from the Study
There are people in this life who feel more deserving than others, such as, "We are a people beloved by God," or "I am the favorite of my parents," or "I..." Any sentence that begins with "I" and then adds something else, know that you have begun with the idea of deserving. In truth, we all, young and old, mature and otherwise, feel some degree of deservingness. Simply put, "We deserve." The problem lies when you begrudge someone a blessing simply because you feel you deserve it more than him. Here, you are stuck in the negative state of deservingness, which is the state referred to by God Almighty in the noble verse, "Out of envy that God should bestow of His bounty upon whomever He wills of His servants." your punishment was the compound wrath of God Almighty. There is nothing wrong with you deserving, but you refuse, denounce, and refrain from letting someone else take what you did not take. Know that you are subject to His wrath. Why? Because you objected and doubted the justice and wisdom of Allah the Almighty, and look at the one who took your place which you thought was your place but it wasn’t your place in the first place, did he take it easily and smoothly, my brother (you will not be empowered until you are tested) Have you been afflicted with a calamity in which your strength collapsed, have you been afflicted with what no one else has been afflicted with? Have all people stopped supporting you while you stand alone in the field “the test of trust in God” if it happened then and then only remember that you deserve it, other than that, we all deserve nothing but for Allah to grant us His grace and He is the possessor of great grace, and always and forever do not wish for what Allah has favored some of you with over others, but rather ask Allah for His grace.
God Almighty said:
And when it is said to them, "Believe in what God has revealed," they say, "We believe in what was revealed to us," and they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is the truth, confirming what is with them. Say, "Then why did you kill God's prophets before, if you were believers?" (91)
Say: Why did you kill God's prophets before God Almighty responded to their statement that they believed in what was revealed to them, and He denounced and rebuked them. The meaning is: How did you kill when you were forbidden to do so? The address is to those who were present with Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and not their ancestors, but rather their children. Because they were responsible for those killed, as God Almighty said.
A look at the Noble Verse
If it were said to the Jews or Christians of the Hijaz lands at that time (Mecca and Medina) or their surroundings—God knows best—to believe in Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and what he brought, the Holy Qur'an, they would say, "No, we will continue to worship only what was revealed to us—Judaism or Christianity." Strangely, this is the truth of the Holy Qur'an, and even stranger is that it does not contradict the Torah, but rather complements it. Christianity also came after Judaism, and it was assumed that the Jews would convert to Christianity. This is well-known in divine laws: as a heavenly test for those who submit and convert quietly, without fanfare. But the Jews did not content themselves with objecting; indeed, it is a characteristic of theirs that they were the killers of prophets. Here is a pause: Is converting from one religion to another easy for the human soul? It is one of the most difficult, fateful decisions a person can make. You will learn in a little while from psychology. But why does the Lord of Muslims always want difficult things from us? The truth is, we don't know, except that all religions give you more than they take from you. Islam takes you, in general and details and gives you more in the afterlife, not here. So, why is Islam one of the fastest-spreading religions on Earth, and God takes more from you than he gives you? You answer in your paper, we won't answer.
The Psychology of Conversion
C. Harry Hui of the University of Hong Kong said, "Religious conversion is a significant life event, and some claim that it brings about significant psychological changes. However, no research has ever systematically addressed it with a rigorous, long-term research design."
Are there changes in personality?
The researchers found no evidence that personality, social norms, personal values, or psychological symptoms predicted conversion. However, they did find that converts' levels of anxiety and stress decreased over the three-year period. The researchers also found evidence that converts' personal values also changed. "There are indeed significant changes in psychological symptoms and personal values during the conversion process," Hui told PsyPost. The study, like other research, has some limitations. It remains unclear whether the findings can be generalized to other cultures and religions.
The evidence from the previous study
Converting from one religion to another is one of the most difficult life-changing decisions, requiring personality changes that will never return to what you were before. So, why does God ask some people to do this? Do these life-changing decisions improve your personality? Do they push you to become a strong person after being just like everyone else? Do you feel elevated in your own eyes? Do you feel different? Please be different, and by being different, acknowledge it. This is one of the virtues of this worldly life.
God Almighty said:
Moses had already come to you with clear proofs, but after him you took the calf, while you were wrongdoers.
And God's Prophet Moses had already brought you clear miracles proving his truthfulness, such as the flood, locusts, lice, frogs, and other things mentioned in the Noble Qur'an. Yet you still took the calf as an object of worship after Moses had gone to his appointed time with his Lord, transgressing God's limits.
A Look at the Holy Verse
And We gave Moses nine clear signs: the staff, the years, the hand, the blood, the flood, the locusts and lice, the frogs, and the splitting of the sea. Then God Almighty took the Jews back (to their history) and said to them, "Remember Moses, peace be upon him, when he came to you with clear proofs. Then what did you do after you were slaves to the Egyptians?" "You took the calf as a god," while you were wrongdoers. You wronged yourselves by taking a god who neither benefits nor harms, nor is capable of anything for himself, let alone benefiting you. You and the Samaritan (one of the most prominent Jewish figures at that time) created it himself, right before your eyes. Then you took it, "the calf," as a god besides God, with complete ease. This is truly astonishing.
Dear Reader: Do you know how many earthly religions there are?
Don't tell me I don't recognize it: your not recognizing it is like the ostrich that buries its head in the sand and its naked body in the air, thinking that its head is buried, its enemies do not see it, they exist and they have places of worship and they have messengers, they have books and rituals, and some of these religions are imposed by coercive force on their followers, the idea of deviating from the truth to falsehood is a very easy and common idea, we ask God for safety and nothing else
God Almighty said:
And [mention] when We took your covenant and raised the mount above you, [saying], “Take what We have given you with strength and listen.” They said, “We hear and disobey.” And they were made to drink into their hearts the [evil] calf because of their disbelief. Say, “Evil is that which he enjoins upon you, if you are [true] believers.” (93)
And remember when We took from you a firm covenant to accept what Moses brought you of the Torah, but you broke it. The covenant. So We raised Mount Tur over your heads and said to you, "Take what We have given you with earnestness, and listen and obey, or We will cause the mountain to fall upon you." You said, "We hear your words and disobey your command," because the worship of the calf had become ingrained in your hearts due to your persistence in disbelief. Say to them, O Messenger: "How ugly is what your faith commands you of disbelief and misguidance, if you are to believe in what Allah has revealed to you."
A look into the Noble Verse
In the Noble Hadith
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Trials are presented to hearts like a mat, reed by reed. Any heart that absorbs them will have a black dot placed on it, and any heart that rejects them will have a white dot placed on it, until there are two types of hearts: one white like a smooth rock, which will not be harmed by any trial as long as the heavens and the earth endure; and the other black and dusty like an overflowing jug, which does not recognize good nor reject evil except for what it absorbs from its own desires." Narrated by Muslim.
The Meaning of the Hadith
Trials appear and cling to the sides and sides of the human heart, just as a mattress sticks to the side of the sleeper. The heart is affected by the intensity of the trials, and these trials are repeated, one after the other. Whichever heart they enter, love, and mingle with, just as a drink mixes and enters, a black dot will be deposited in their heart. And whichever heart rejects them, a white dot will be deposited in their heart, until hearts are of two types.
Look at the phrase "and be made to drink."
It is like a sponge that absorbs water when placed under a tap. It has been said that Abraham, peace be upon him, was the pure and sincere gurdian. His heart absorbed the love of God Almighty like a sponge. The love of God permeated every cell in his body, as if the heart were a vessel that absorbs belief until it fills all its cells—whether this belief is true or false. Here in this noble verse, Allah - the Most High - makes it clear that Allah - the Most High - Himself - is the one who took covenants from the Children of Israel, covenant after covenant, and raised Mount Tur and suspended it above their heads while they watched, to terrify them. All of this was in compliance with Allah’s commands. Do not be surprised, dear reader: there are mountains in some places in the world that are suspended, as if they will fall on those beneath them, but they are still standing thanks to Allah the Most High. All of this is so that they may take what We have given them with strength. There is wisdom in life that tells you: Life will continue to give you the same lesson until you learn. If you learn it and comprehend it, you will move on to another lesson, and you and your intelligence will learn from the first time or after many times. However, the time you learned, most likely (you took yourself with strength and determination), and Allah is Most High and All-Knowing.
